It may be regarded as a rather grand name: The Resistance Against Babylonian Encroachments on Liberty. Usually, when this ministry is referred to, I use the title “Rabel Christian Civil Liberties”, but the full title does have the advantage in that it describes what this is about.
Rabel believes that, as in the UK we live in a democracy, we have an ability and even a duty to participate in the political life of the country. It is in this light that the word resistance is used. I firmly believe that Christians should come under authority, firstly of God, then of the Church, and then of the governing authorities in our country. Democracy gives us a legitimate avenue to influence the politics and law of the land. So, we can resist the erosion of generally accepted standards in civil liberty and law.
The word Babylonian is used very deliberately, in that I see the steady growth of authoritarian rule as being related to the formation of an end times totalitarian world power, or Babylon. Centred upon Rome, both politically and religiously, this expression of rebellion against God should, I feel, be actively opposed by Bible-believing Christians.
With that in mind, it should be noted that Rabel is both a practical as well as prophetic ministry.
It is perhaps a good idea to spell out the main aims of Rabel:
(1) To campaign for the restoration and preservation of civil liberty under authority (authority of elected representatives and the Supreme Authority of God.)
(2) To stand up and speak out for those who are persecuted or oppressed, regardless of their faith or lack of faith, or personal circumstances. To stand for Christian values whilst loving all.
(3) To be an effective witness and ambassadors of Christ, proclaiming His Truth and love, and showing the people of this world that they matter.
(4) To prepare believers for times of persecution, which shall only increase as the Day approaches.
